At the halfway mark

I’m now 20 weeks; halfway there.

Though I still haven’t felt any movement (not uncommon), the baby was incredibly active during my ultrasound yesterday. I clearly saw, thanks to the technician pointing it out, its wee legs kicking all over the place.

He or she doesn’t seem to be bothered at all by the nasty cold that’s taken me down.

During pregnancy, the immune system is suppressed, keeping the growing baby protected, and preventing the body from fighting the fetus off as a foreign entity.

Good thing, of course, for baby; not so great for mamas to be, who are more vulnerable to viruses.

I’m writing this as I lay on my couch, blanketed and ingesting lots of fluids. As if I didn’t have to pee enough already.

But enough about me, y’all want to see baby’s latest glamour shot.

I told the technician I didn’t want to know the gender, even though I do, so she didn’t even look. I held strong, my friends. I held strong! ✊🏼

Baby is now 6.5 inches from crown to rump, roughly the size of a banana.

Baby sleeps and wakes at regular intervals, and could even be sucking its thumb – which I did until I was about four or five years old!

Since it’s now time for soup, Tylenol, and some more sleep, I’ll leave you with snapshots of my tenant’s spine, foot, and hands.

  1. I think I see an overly large cranial area, indicative of high intelligence, a trademark of the genetic material passed on through the Caperchione line….
